Copy trading on Polymarket from Telegram is one of those things that sounds too good to be true: a bot that watches the best traders on Polymarket and mirrors their moves into your own wallet automatically. I'm one of the people who built one of these bots (PolyApex), so I'll use it for the examples — but this guide covers exactly how Polymarket copy trading works under the hood, how to pick traders actually worth copying, what it costs, and the risks, because there are real ones.

Everything below applies whether you use our bot or any other tool. It's long on purpose — this is the guide I wish existed when we started building.

What copy trading on Polymarket actually is

Polymarket is a prediction market on Polygon where you buy YES or NO shares on real events — elections, Fed decisions, sports, crypto prices. Shares trade between $0.01 and $0.99 and settle at $1.00 if you're right, $0.00 if you're wrong.

So "copy trading" here is not the crypto-chart kind. You're not copying indicators, you're copying another trader's conviction on events: they buy YES on the Fed cutting rates at $0.64, and your copy opens the same position at your chosen size shortly after. When the market resolves, winning shares pay out automatically.

The core idea: instead of researching 50 markets a week yourself, you allocate a budget to traders with proven on-chain track records and let their decisions drive your positions — with hard limits so you're never overexposed to a single trader.

Why people do it from Telegram

  • You don't have to sit on the Polymarket website watching wallets manually. The bot watches on-chain activity 24/7 — including while you sleep.
  • You get everything where you already live: trade notifications, position updates, balance, all in one chat.
  • No browser extension, no separate login. You fund your own wallet and the bot handles the rest.
How it works, step by step (PolyApex example)

  1. Open the bot (t.me/PolyApexTradeBot) and tap Start.
  2. The bot generates your own personal deposit wallet on Polygon. This wallet belongs to your account only — the bot never asks for your existing seed phrase (it never should — no legit bot needs it).
  3. Fund it with USDC on Polygon. Any exchange works — just withdraw USDC on the Polygon network. Conversions (bridged/native USDC, Polymarket's settlement token) are handled automatically.
  4. Browse the leaderboard of top Polymarket traders with their real on-chain stats: PnL, win rate, volume, recent activity.
  5. Tap Copy on a trader and set two numbers: your total budget and your stake per trade.
  6. From then on, the bot watches that trader's wallet on-chain. Every qualifying buy gets mirrored into your wallet at your stake size, and copying automatically stops when your budget runs out.
  7. Track everything in "My Positions". Winning positions are auto-redeemed when markets resolve and the proceeds land back in your balance.
  8. Withdraw back to your own external wallet anytime.
Minimum to start is $5. Your funds stay in your own Polymarket-compatible wallet the whole time — the bot executes trades from it, but you can pull out whenever you want.

How to pick traders worth copying (the part that actually matters)

This is where most people get it wrong. A trader having made money once means nothing. Here's the checklist we use for our own leaderboard:

  1. Verified on-chain PnL, not screenshots. Everything should be readable from the wallet's actual trade history, not claimed.
  2. Win rate AND average entry price. A 75% win rate buying 80¢ favorites is a totally different risk profile than a 75% win rate on 10¢ longshots. Both can be valid — know which one you're copying.
  3. Recent activity. A trader who hasn't traded in two weeks is dead weight. Look for consistent activity over the last 7–14 days.
  4. Category fit. Politics, sports, and crypto markets behave completely differently. A sports sharp can be a politics tourist. Copy traders in categories you understand.
  5. Position sizing discipline. Good traders size up when confident and stay small when unsure. Gamblers do the opposite.
  6. Red flags: brand-new wallets, wallets that mostly sell, wallets pumping obscure illiquid markets (can be wash trading or pump-and-dumps).

And the golden rule: past performance does not guarantee future results. Diversify across 2–4 traders with different styles rather than going all-in on one. Even great traders hit losing streaks — that's why you set a total budget you're comfortable losing.

The risks — read this before you deposit

  • Your copied trader can stop performing. They had one hot year? That's not a strategy. Re-check your copied traders weekly.
  • Slippage on thin markets. Small markets can move when multiple copiers enter. This is why copying too-big traders into too-small markets hurts.
  • You can lose your entire stake. Prediction markets are binary. position sizing and budgets are your only protection — use them.
  • It's not passive income. It's passive execution of active trading. The research is delegated, not eliminated.
  • Jurisdiction. Polymarket isn't available everywhere. Check your local rules before depositing.
Only deposit what you can genuinely afford to lose. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.

FAQ

Do I need my own Polymarket account?
No. The bot trades through your own Polymarket-compatible wallet on Polygon, created when you sign up.

Do I have to share my seed phrase? No — and never do, for any bot. The deposit wallet is generated inside the bot, and you can withdraw your funds to your own wallet anytime.

What's the minimum to start? Around $5.

Which network and token? Polygon, funded with USDC.e / pUSD. The bot handles token conversions automatically.

How fast are trades copied? Usually within about 30 sec of the original trade — the bot watches the trader's wallet on-chain.

Can I stop copying a trader? Yes, anytime, with one tap. Your funds stay yours.

What happens when a market resolves? Winning positions are redeemed automatically and the money returns to your balance.
